The library of Mount Calvary Baptist Church made its debut in the year of 1991. Just like knowledge, Mount Calvary’s church library began as a vision of our founding Pastor, Claybon Lea, Sr. Pastor Emeritus Lea believed that people ought to know their history. He knew as well as believed that knowledge is power. A favorite scripture he often quoted can be found in Hosea  4:6,  my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge (KJV).  He envisioned a place where people of African descent can frequent and learn about the rich historical legacy and contributions made by our ancestors.

After the death of Pastor Emertius Claybon Lea, the library underwent a name change and was relocated to the Interim site on Enterprise Drive. A re-dedication service took place in November of 2007.

The Library is open to all Mount Calvary members as well as the community. The library hours are 6:00 P.M.  to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday and Thursday and Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon.

The Library staff is ready to serve and assist you in locating books from the 2,500 titles on file, begging to enlighten and broaden your mind’s perspective. Many books have been donated and are being added to our library using state of the art computer software. All library books and materials can be check out for 21 days.
